Attend the Fairfax GOP Convention and Vote in Our Straw Poll
Tim Hannigan | Fairfax GOP
Thanks to all who’ve registered to be delegates to the Fairfax GOP Convention on March 14 and members of the Fairfax County Republican Committee for the 2020-2022 membership period!
For those who haven’t yet registered, the official call for the Fairfax GOP Convention and filing forms for prospective delegates are available in PDF format on the Fairfax GOP website and the Republican Party of Virginia website.
Here’s a summary of the key information about the FCRC Convention:
- 9:00 AM, Saturday, March 14: FCRC Convention at W.T. Woodson High School, 9525 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031 (Registration starts at 8:00 AM)
- 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 22: Filing deadline for non-military and active duty military residents of Fairfax County to file for the Fairfax GOP Convention — only convention delegates who file by this deadline will be allowed to participate in the STRAW POLL BY SECRET BALLOT described below
We recommend that delegates submit their filing forms well ahead of the deadline so the Fairfax GOP Convention Credentials Committee has time to contact you for corrections of any filing form mistakes that might deny you membership and/or prevent you from serving as a delegate at the convention.
You can additionally use the same filing form to sign up to become:
- A member of the Fairfax County Republican Committee for the 2020 – 2022 membership period.
- A delegate to the 8th, 10th, and 11th Congressional District Republican Conventions and the Republican Party of Virginia state convention. Information about these conventions is available HERE.
- A voting delegate at the Fairfax GOP Convention on March 14, where you can vote in our STRAW POLL BY SECRET BALLOT for candidates seeking the party’s nomination for U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives from the 8th and 10th Congressional Districts.
At the March 14 convention, each of the candidates seeking the GOP nomination will be given three minutes to speak, after which delegates will vote their preferences by secret ballot. We’ll announce the results at the end of the process.
Come out and vote for your favorite Senate and congressional candidate! Use the paper or online filing form available HERE to sign up as a convention delegate. Only properly registered Fairfax GOP Convention delegates will be allowed to vote in the STRAW POLL BY SECRET BALLOT.
Let me emphasize the vote will just be a “straw poll” of the delegates. The STRAW POLL BY SECRET BALLOT results will NOT represent official nomination results. Official nomination voting will take place in the primary voting for Senate candidates on June 9 and at the 8th District Republican Convention on May 16 and the 10th Republican Convention on May 30 for the Congressional candidates.
Tim Hannigan currently serves as chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee.
