Asra Nomani was on WMAL’s Mornings on the Mall radio program today, discussing last night’s meeting of the Fairfax County School Board, where Superintendent Scott Brabrand unveiled his scheme to abolish merit-based, race-blind admissions standards at Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology (“TJ”).
If enacted last year, Brabrand’s scheme would have cut TJ’s Asian student body from 70 percent to 52 percent. “Our students are on the wrong side of brown, when it comes to the calculations of Fairfax County Public Schools,” Nomani laments. “Most of our kids are from China, India, Korea — Asians.”
Nomani contends that Fairfax County school officials are diminishing and “whitewashing” Asian students of color, as the result of Critical Race Theory. “One of the integral ideas of Critical Race Theory is that Asians haven’t suffered enough,” Nomani says. “And so we don’t count anymore.”
