Following a marathon session of comments from the public, including concerned gun owners, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors enacted a new gun control ordinance early Wednesday.

“The ban applies to the possession, carrying and transportation of guns, ammunition or components in Fairfax County-owned or operated buildings, parks, recreation and community centers, permitted events open to the public, and areas adjacent to those permitted events,” Patch.com reported.

Cam Edwards of BearingArms.com was on the Larry O’Connor Show to break down the new ordinance for listeners. “This has been a long-time goal of gun control advocates in Virginia,” Edwards noted.

Virginia used to have uniform, statewide laws governing firearms. Since the Democrats took over the legislature, that has changed. Localities are now free to enact their own gun control measures — which Fairfax County has now done.

“There is more to come,” Edwards warned. “Places like Fairfax are going to try to put more places off-limits to concealed-carry holders.”
