With great sadness, the Fairfax GOP announces that Executive Committee member Linda Bartlett passed away on Monday, January 15th, from a previously undetected cancer. A resident of the Wakefield precinct in Braddock, she was a long-time Republican political activist; former President of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women; President of the George Mason Republican Women; member of the State Central Committee of the Republican Party of VA; and much more. Linda and her husband Dan passed out sample ballots at the Wakefield precinct every year on Election Day, and she set up our Fairfax GOP tent at the Wakefield Farmers Market for the entire season in 2022. Linda’s life was a blessing to many, and she will be missed.
Friend and McLean Republican Women’s Club member Jill Cook shared, ‘she was a force to be reckoned with in VA GOP politics and a sharp, savvy, compassionate and loyal friend. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was generous with her time. Her Annual Derby Day Party was great fun, and she loved hosting it!’
From Mike Ginsberg, Chairman of the 11th Congressional District, “Linda Bartlett was a pillar of the Virginia GOP, Fairfax GOP, and VFRW communities. When you think of VFRW and Northern Virginia, one of the first people you think of is Linda Bartlett. She mentored generations of Virginia and Fairfax County Republican women candidates and activists, led Republican Women’s clubs, and helped organize new clubs. She brought that passion for mentorship and leadership to our 11th District Committee, where she represented the VFRW faithfully and with great distinction. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have known her and worked with her.”
Fairfax GOP Chair Steve Knotts remembered Linda as “a tireless and effective Republican warrior. From the first time I met her, she was welcoming and went out of her way to introduce me to the many, many like-minded people she knew. I will truly miss her.”
We extend our sincere condolences to Dan Bartlett and their family.
