Youngkin Wins Key Supreme Court Ruling On Illegal, Noncitizen Voting!

Yesterday, Governor Youngkin and Virginia scored a major win for election integrity when the Supreme Court (6-3) granted their request for an emergency stay of a lower court’s ruling to block the removal of noncitizens from our voter rolls.

Yes, you read that correctly – a federal judge blocked Virginia’s removal of noncitizens from our voter rolls.  The Biden-Harris Dept. of Justice filed suit against Governor Youngkin and the Commonwealth of Virginia in an effort to prevent the Department of Elections from removing noncitizens, who are not legally eligible to vote, from the voter rolls.

Governor Youngkin and Attorney General Miyares both hailed the Supreme Court’s decision a victory for “common sense” and the rule of law as part of their effort to protect the vote of legal, eligible Virginians.

The Fairfax GOP’s Election Integrity Team has worked tirelessly over the past 4 years to improve operations and accountability at our Office of Elections, recruit Election Officers, train poll watchers and educate the public about the importance of, and need for, election integrity.

Katie Gorka, Chair of the Fairfax County Republican Committee, issued a statement when the lawsuit was initially brought against Virginia, and had this to say about yesterday’s crucial ruling:

“We are deeply grateful the U.S. Supreme Court recognizes the rule of law and the integrity of our elections,” said Katie Gorka, Chair of the Fairfax County Republican Committee. “By deciding to allow Virginia to remove noncitizen voters from the state’s registration rolls, the Commonwealth’s citizens can be assured that their vote counts.  Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s efforts to challenge the Department of Justice’s lawsuit is critical to righting the wrongs of past years that have allowed noncitizens to illegally cast ballots in our elections.”

Meanwhile, 11th District Rep. Gerry Connolly (D) issued a statement decrying the stay, and attempted to misrepresent the issue by leaving out the pivotal term, “noncitizen”.  The whole point is that noncitizens do not have a right to vote in our elections.

What can you do?  Exercise your precious right as a citizen to cast your vote in our elections!

The LAST DAY of early voting is Saturday, 11/2 and Election Day is Tuesday, 11/5.
