By Chairwoman Katie Gorka.
This is it…the final few days of a long crazy election season. Many of us remain concerned about the integrity of Virginia’s electoral process, and it has been discouraging to hear the lies coming from the Democrats and their disparagement of Republicans—just last night Biden referred to us as garbage!
Nonetheless, I see so many reasons to be hopeful. At the top of that list is the incredible news that the Supreme Court granted Virginia’s emergency stay to keep noncitizens off our voter rolls. We are so grateful to Governor Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares for fighting for the rights of Virginia’s citizens.
My other top reason for hope is the enthusiasm and commitment of the hundreds of volunteers who are part of the Fairfax GOP. Over 1,000 volunteers have been doorknocking, calling, placing signs, greeting voters, volunteering as pollwatchers and election officers, and working in the office, and they have done so with such joy (real joy, not Kamala’s saccharine joy).
I am also so encouraged by all the new friends and connections we have made—the many people throughout Fairfax County who have realized that the values of today’s radical Democrat party do not align with their values. They are getting involved so that they can make a difference. Friends in the Chinese-American community have handed out thousands of Chinese-language flyers, Hispanic-Americans and Korean-Americans have been volunteering to get the word out. Last night I participated in an event where representatives from 8 different Northern Virginia communities—Afghan, Egyptian, Sudanese, Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi, Yemeni, and Kurdish—gathered to endorse President Trump!
All of these efforts are making a big difference. The latest polls show Harris with only a 2-point lead in Virginia, compared with the 9-point lead Biden had in the run-up to the 2020 election. And Harris knows it’s close. It is being reported that she has moved staff from other states into Virginia.
There’s a great story about a woman named Laura Mollo, who moved back to her hometown of Richlands, Virginia. Discouraged by the corruption and inefficiency of her local government (sound familiar??) she decided to get involved. She now sits on her town council and has helped turned her town around. For Laura, the lesson is that “we are the checks and balances. The people are the checks and balances system.”
In ways I have never seen in my lifetime, the people are stepping up. More and more people recognize that if we want to save our extraordinary experiment in self-government, sitting out politics is not an option. We are the checks and balances.
That means voting, volunteering, persuading friends and neighbors, and doing everything you can to break through that blue wall of the biased, mainstream media, and sharing the truth. I am so grateful to the thousands of people working on behalf of President Trump and our other Republican candidates this election. Let’s give it everything we have in this final push so that we can celebrate victory together!
