A new ad from Republican Glenn Youngkin is blasting Democrat Terry McAuliffe’s embrace of “defund the police” extremists. “What is Terry McAullife’s plan? Refusing to meet with police officers; touting endorsements from extreme left-wing groups that want to defund the police and abolish ICE,” the ad notes. “No wonder the murder rate went up 43 percent when McAuliffe was governor. He put violent criminals first and victims last.”

The new ad follows concerns about the rising murder rate here in Fairfax County under far-left Democrat leadership. “A fatal shooting over the weekend marked Fairfax County’s 15th murder of 2021,” 7 News DC reported this week. “That’s more than double the six murders the county had at this time last year.”

Fairfax GOP Chairman Steve Knotts says it’s time for Virginians to demand a return to law and order. “The record is clear: today’s Democrats cannot be trusted to keep our families safe,” the chairman said. “This November, we’ll have a chance to elect new, commonsense leaders who understand the value of law enforcement.”
