Harry Jackson, the son of a judge and a social worker, is now running for school board in Fairfax County’s Hunter Mill District. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he went on to earn several master’s degrees as well as a doctorate in Strategic Security. Looking back, Dr. Jackson credits his parents’ “love of education, spirit of resilience, and commitment to justice” for his drive to achieve and his willingness to learn from any setbacks along the way.
On the campaign trail, Dr. Jackson often reminds voters that “principles matter.” At his website, FriendsOfHarryJackson.com, the candidate lays out three main principles that inform his vision for the school board:
Like so many parents in Fairfax County, Dr. Jackson was dismayed by the extended public school closures in the name of COVID after private schools reopened safely. In April, he joined Fox & Friends to rebut the congressional testimony of union boss Randi Weingarten. “They applied political science over actual medical science in providing guidelines to reopen schools — and they had a disastrous result as we all know,” Dr. Jackson said of the union’s lobbying efforts.
