It’s Official:  Fairfax is a Sanctuary County

Fairfax County Adult Detention Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fairfax County, VA, May 24 2018  –  Yesterday, Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Kincaid ended cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by terminating its Intergovernmental Service Agreement with that federal organization. Fairfax County will no longer “honor any requests to detain individuals subject to an administrative detention request unless there is a corresponding lawfully issued criminal detainer.”

The Chairwoman of the County Board of Supervisors and the Democrat Party agree with that decision. Starting today, criminal illegal aliens will be released from jail directly onto Fairfax County’s streets at the completion of their detentions. Detainer requests issued by ICE will no longer be honored “unless an ICE administrative request to detain the inmate is accompanied by a criminal detainer issued by a court.” Members of MS-13 and other gangs may be among those released.

Sheriff Kincaid, an elected official, and the Democrat-controlled Board of Supervisors have officially declared Fairfax a Sanctuary County. In doing so, Sheriff Kincaid and the Board of Supervisors have put the lives of Fairfax residents at risk. Sheriff Kincaid is sending a message that she would rather protect criminal illegal aliens than Fairfax residents.

The Fairfax County Republican Committee condemns this needless act and calls on Sheriff Kincaid and the Board of Supervisors to reverse their decision immediately. The criminal illegal aliens, some of whom are members of MS-13 and other gangs, prey on vulnerable families especially in the Hispanic community. Sheriff Kincaid’s decision endangers legal immigrant families, especially those with young children.

The Fairfax County Republican Committee is working with several organizations to find legal remedies to protect our neighbors. I urge residents to call their Supervisor to demand that Sheriff Kincaid protect our County.

These are the type of radical acts Fairfax residents can expect with one-party rule. This has to end. The Fairfax GOP is hard at work to take back the Board of Supervisors, Sheriff, and other local elected offices in 2019. Fairfax Republicans are committed to lower taxes, smaller government, better schools, and safer communities. Democrats have demonstrated on whose side they’re on.

It’s not yours.
