Hold the Line, Senators, on Medicaid Expansion!

The Medicaid Expansion fight is not over.

According to news reports, on Tuesday May 29 the Senate Finance Committee may adopt a budget proposal that could then be debated and potentially amended on the floor to expand Medicaid with federal money. If those federal subsidies for Medicaid are eliminated in the future, Virginia will be totally responsible for billions in Medicaid costs.

Medicaid expansion supporters are reported to be planning to discharge the Senate Finance Committee (move it out of the Finance Committee) to force a vote on the Senate Floor by Wednesday, May 30.

A strong presentation against Medicaid Expansion by Senator William M. “Bill” Stanley, (R) Franklin County:

What can YOU do?

Contact your Senator, TODAY. Leave voicemails and emails for their office to THANK them for Holding the Line against Medicaid Expansion and ask them to keep up the fight on Tuesday and Wednesday before the vote. Remind them all that:

  1. Do NOT discharge the Finance Committee.
  2. Virginia needs a clean budget.
  3. Hold the Line.

Contact the offices of Senators Frank Wagner and Emmet Hanger and ask them for a clean budget without Medicaid Expansion. These two Republican Senators must be reminded that Virginians need them to Hold the Line against Medicaid Expansion.

Whether you live in the districts of these two Senators or not is irrelevant, as their votes will affect everyone in Virginia. Make sure they understand:

Do NOT discharge the Finance Committee. Virginia needs a clean budget.

Hold the Line.
