Last week’s Goya Food Drive was a great success, thanks to many dozens of Fairfax GOP donors and volunteers. More than 1,000 items — including nearly 100 pounds of rice and flour — were donated to local food banks.
The drive, which ran from July 11 through July 19, was conceived in response to leftist calls for a boycott of Goya Foods after CEO Robert Unanue hailed President Donald Trump’s Hispanic Prosperity Initiative, which aims to expand educational options and economic opportunities for Hispanics nationwide.
Telemundo 44 featured the Goya Food Drive in Thursday evening’s Spanish-language news program. On Friday, Fairfax GOP 1st Vice Chairman Sean Rastatter discussed the food drive and related issues on WMAL’s Mornings on the Mall radio program. “The Fairfax Republican Party stands with our Hispanic community, and we stand for 1st Amendment rights,” Rastatter said.
