The Fairfax GOP launched a “Goya Food Drive” over the weekend, with more than 200 items already collected as of Sunday, July 12. The drive will run through Sunday, July 19, after which all items will be donated to a local food bank.
Left-wing agitators called for a boycott of Goya Foods after CEO Robert Unanue hailed President Donald Trump’s Hispanic Prosperity Initiative, which aims to expand educational options and economic opportunities for Hispanics nationwide.
The Left’s boycott invited a backlash in the form of a Goya “buy-cott.” Texas Senator Ted Cruz tweeted on Friday: “The Left is trying to cancel Hispanic culture and silence free speech. #BuyGoya.”
The “Goya Food Drive” was the brainchild of Fairfax GOP 1st Vice Chairman Sean Rastatter. “Let’s help our fellow man while combating the Left’s tyrannical cancel culture,” Rastatter said.
Drop off your Goya food items at Fairfax GOP headquarters (4246 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA 22030) anytime now through Sunday, July 19. If the office is closed, simply leave your donated items at the front door.
