The May 1, 2018 election in Fairfax City saw Conservative Sang Yi win a seat on the Fairfax City Council. He received the highest vote total in the 8 person race with 2,053 ballots cast in his favor, or 13.7% of all votes. He was the only one to receive more than 2,000 votes.
Mr. Yi scored the highest percentage of the overall vote at 13.7%. All candidates for the position ran as non-partisan contenders and Mr. Yi ran on Conservative principles and impressed people with his message. This bodes well for the Republican Party of Fairfax County as Fairfax City has long been a Liberal Democrat stronghold. Mr. Yi should provide a fresh perspective to the City Council as he offers ideas other than redistribution of income and wasteful spending. We congratulate him, we wish him well, and we hope he spreads his winning ways to other Conservatives.
Here’s Mr. Yi’s announcement of his candidacy in March.
