Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) closed for a month — during which no effort was made to educate children remotely — only to unveil a very limited plan for distance learning.

On Tuesday, county schools finally attempted to reopen online. Chaos ensued. Technical issues locked many students out. Other students who could access their virtual classrooms reportedly faced extreme profanity and harassment.

Ultimately, FCPS decided to cancel instruction for yet another week.

The Fairfax GOP hosted a live, interactive panel discussion Thursday night, devoted to “filling the educational void left by county schools.” Moderated by Sean Rastatter, the panel consisted of Elizabeth Schultz, Priscilla DeStefano and Martha-Helene Stapleton.

Ms. Schultz is a former member of the Fairfax County School Board; Ms. Stefano is a former school board candidate with a child in the FCPS system; and Ms. Stapleton homeschools her six children in Herndon, Virginia.
