(Limited to 200 attendees)

The Brookland-Bush Hill Civic Association (BBHCA) will be holding a non-partisan Candidates Q&A for the 2023 Franconia District Supervisor on Saturday, September 16.

MODERATOR

Mark Hand will moderate the event. Mr. Hand has worked as a journalist for more than 25 years and currently reports on Northern Virginia for Patch.com. He also worked for Financial Times Energy and S&P Global and is a graduate of the University of Virginia.

Note: This is not a reservation but will allow us to anticipate the number of attendees and questions of most interest. Admission is first come, first seated. Maximum occupancy is 200. Parking is limited as this is a neighborhood location, so please walk or carpool if possible.

FORMAT

The candidates will first answer several prepared questions that were provided prior to the event. Candidates will then be asked to answer questions from the moderator and the audience. Attendees will be given instructions on rules of conduct and question format. No campaign materials will be allowed. Meet and greet after Q&A.

GENERAL ELECTION

On the November 7, 2023, ballot are VA State offices for Senator, House of Delegates member, and commonwealth’s attorney and Fairfax County offices for Board of Supervisors chairman and members, clerk of the court, sheriff, School Board members, and Soil and Water Conservation District members.

Franconia (formerly “Lee”) is one of nine districts in Fairfax County, and based on the 2020 census has a population of 19.5k people with a median age of 39.6 and a median household income of $120,946. According to niche.com, Franconia is considered one of the best places to live in Virginia. Current and past supervisors include Rodney Lusk (2019-2023), Jeff McKay (2007-2018), and Dana Kaufman (1995 to 2007).
