2025 Is An Election Year In Virginia

Virginia is one of only five states that hold state-level elections in off-year cycles (years when there are no federal elections). This means our major state elections occur in odd-numbered years.
On The 2025 Ballot
  • Governor: Serves as chief executive of Virginia, elected to a four-year term
  • Lieutenant Governor: Second-highest executive position, presides over the State Senate
  • Attorney General: Chief legal officer for the Commonwealth
  • House of Delegates: 100 members representing districts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia

2025 Statewide Candidates

These great candidates have announced for office.

Winsome Earle-Sears

Candidate for Governor of Virginia

Winsome Earle-Sears, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, immigrated to the United States at the age of six. She is proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps.

In addition to her various appointments, she has served as the Vice President of the Virginia State Board of Education; and as a presidential appointee to the US Census Bureau, as co-chair of the African American Committee; and the Advisory Committee on Women Veterans to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Winsome was first elected in 2002 to a majority Black House of Delegates district, a first for a Republican in Virginia since 1865.

She is the first female Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the first Black female elected to statewide office. As Lieutenant Governor, Winsome Earle-Sears presides over the Senate when they are in session.

A former program manager for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and VISTA volunteer, Winsome is a trained electrician and successful businesswoman. However, Winsome is most proud of her community work leading a men’s prison ministry and as director of a women’s homeless shelter.

She holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Economics, and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership, with a concentration in Government. Winsome and her husband, Terence, have two daughters Katia and Janel, in addition to DeJon, and granddaughters Victoria and Faith, who are now looking into the face of God.

Pat Herrity

Candidate for Lt. Governor of Virginia

After over 45 years of award winning elected, business, sports and civic community leadership and experience, Pat is running to take his proven track record to Richmond as Virginia’s next Lieutenant Governor.

A lifelong resident of Virginia, Pat Herrity has deep roots in the Commonwealth. In 2021 we put Virginia on the right path by electing Governor Youngkin. It’s critical that in 2025, we continue Governor Youngkin’s legacy by electing Winsome Sears to the Governor’s mansion and re-electing Jason Miyares as our Attorney General.

Winning statewide in 2025 will require doing better in Northern Virginia. As someone that repeatedly wins in a solid democrat district, Pat will bring that to the ticket and keep Virginia on the right path.

John Curran

Candidate for Lt. Governor of Virginia

John Curran is running for Lt. Governor of Virginia to bring back common sense, accountability and values to the Commonwealth, as he works to unite all of Virginia.

Jason Miyares

incumbent Candidate for Attorney General of Virginia

Attorney General Jason Miyares is a former criminal prosecutor who kept violent felons off our streets. Now, he continues to protect Virginia families as the state’s top law enforcement officer while standing for our conservative values.

Since his inauguration in January 2022, Jason has been focused on fighting violent crime and improving public safety, strengthening economic growth, combatting the deadly impact of opioids and fentanyl, and protecting Virginians from corporate misconduct.

Jason Miyares is the first Hispanic American to be elected to a statewide office in Virginia, and the first child of an immigrant to be attorney general.

Jason Miyares is a husband and a proud father of three. With a heart of gratitude for being able to live the American Dream, he has dedicated his life to preserving that dream for the next generation.
