Vote Yes on Redistricting Reform

October 15, 2020 in Election News

The Fairfax GOP recommends a “yes” vote on statewide question 1, which amends Virginia’s constitution to establish a bipartisan commission for the initial redrawing of legislative district maps.

“A ‘yes’ vote will make a bipartisan commission responsible for the initial drawing of election districts,” according to the Senate of Virginia’s Privileges and Elections Committee. “A ‘no’ vote will leave the sole responsibility for drawing the districts with the General Assembly and the Governor.”

A new video from the Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition illustrates the absurdity of current, gerrymandered districts. “Voters should choose their representatives — not the other way around,” the ad’s voiceover says.
