Thank You Governor Youngkin, Lt. Gov. Sears & AG Miyares: A Legacy of Results for Virginia

As Governor Glenn Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears, and Attorney General Jason Miyares prepare to leave office Saturday, we celebrate four years of historic accomplishments—from making Virginia America’s Top State for Business to delivering $9 billion in tax relief and the nation’s biggest drop in overdose deaths.

Virginia’s Historically Diverse Republican Team Delivered on Their Promises

On January 15, 2022, Glenn Youngkin, Winsome Earle-Sears, and Jason Miyares were sworn in as Virginia’s most historically diverse statewide ticket ever. The Washington Post called their victory “historically diverse,” noting the Republican Party had made significant “inroads in the African American and Latino communities.” Former Democrat Governor Doug Wilder said Republicans had “one-upped” Democrats with the achievement.

Four years later, the results speak for themselves.

Economic Powerhouse: Under Governor Youngkin’s leadership, Virginia was named CNBC’s #1 Top State for Business in 2024—the sixth time Virginia has earned the top spot, making it the most decorated state in the ranking’s history. The Commonwealth attracted more than $100 billion in capital investment commitments and created over 265,000 new jobs.

Tax Relief for Families: The Youngkin administration delivered $9 billion in tax relief to working Virginians—eliminating the state grocery tax, nearly doubling the standard deduction, and exempting up to $40,000 of military retirement pay from state taxes.

Safer Communities: Operation Bold Blue Line resulted in a 30% decline in homicides statewide. Virginia achieved the highest rate of drug overdose death reduction in the nation—a 44% year-over-year decline—thanks to Operation FREE Virginia and First Lady Suzanne Youngkin’s “It Only Takes One” fentanyl awareness campaign.

Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears made history as Virginia’s first female Lieutenant Governor and first woman of color elected statewide in the Commonwealth’s 400-year history. A Marine Corps veteran and immigrant from Jamaica, she traveled over 28,000 miles across the Commonwealth meeting with Virginians and served as National Chair of the Aerospace States Association.

Attorney General Jason Miyares became the first Hispanic American elected statewide in Virginia and the first child of an immigrant to serve as Attorney General. His office secured over $1 billion in opioid settlements from pharmaceutical companies, investigated and exposed the lawless 2020 Parole Board, and launched Operation Ceasefire to combat violent crime.

Governor Youngkin summed up the team’s partnership best:

As the Youngkin administration prepares to hand over leadership on Saturday, Fairfax County Republicans extend our deepest gratitude to Governor Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Sears, and Attorney General Miyares for their tireless service to the Commonwealth.

Their legacy of results—lower taxes, safer streets, more jobs, and a stronger Virginia—will not be forgotten.

Thank you for strengthening the Spirit of Virginia.
