Richmond, VA – Attorney General Miyares today announced he is leading an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court against the discriminatory and illegal admissions process at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax, Virginia.
AG Miyares Files Amicus Brief Against Discriminatory TJ Admissions Scheme
Attorney General Miyares filed an amicus brief against the discriminatory and illegal admission process at Thomas Jefferson High School. The Attorney General is fighting against this unconstitutional policy because it unfairly punishes Asian American students due to their race.
The Office of the Attorney General will always fight for the equal protection and treatment of Virginians and therefore believes the Fairfax County School Board’s request to reinstate the discriminatory admission process should be denied.
INTERVIEW: AG Miyares Blasts Descano’s “Criminal First” Mindset
Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is blasting Fairfax Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano’s “criminal first, victim last” record. On Wednesday’s O’Connor & Company radio show, Miyares called Descano a “hopelessly naive,” “wannabe prosecutor” who is “failing” to do his job.
The attorney general’s blistering comments followed Tuesday’s arrest of Gerald Brevard, who is alleged to have shot a number of homeless men in DC and New York.
MIYARES: State Universities Cannot Mandate COVID Vaccine for Students
Attorney General Miyares has issued a legal opinion that Virginia’s state institutions of higher education cannot require the COVID-19 vaccine as a general condition of students’ enrollment or in-person attendance.
Attorney General Miyares highlights in the opinion that “as recognized in the prior opinion, ‘[t]here is no question that the General Assembly could enact a statue requiring the COVID-19 vaccine for in-person school attendance.’
As of this writing, it has not done so.
Youngkin & Miyares to Fight Unconstitutional Vaccine Mandates
Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General-elect Jason Miyares today announced their intent to challenge the unconstitutional vaccine mandate imposed by President Biden’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused heartbreaking health, societal, and economic loss and suffering throughout the Commonwealth and the United States. Our children have experienced severe learning loss and developmental challenges that will last decades, strained and stressed hospital systems are suffering from an historic staffing crisis, and a crippled supply chain has driven up Virginians’ cost of living.

Jason Miyares overwhelmingly won today’s Attorney General Debate hosted by the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce. Mark Herring showed Virginians that he has nothing but a failed record to run on and deserves to be fired.
“Mark Herring has failed Virginians. He refused to hold the Parole Board accountable when they broke the law and let murderers, rapists, child abductors, and cop killers out with decades left on their sentences.
