Suburban GOP Organization Sponsors “Earth Day 2020” Recycling Effort

Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition

The Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition (SUVGOP) announced today that the organization is teaming up with the Northern Virginia small business, Yuck Old Paint, to provide safe, eco-friendly paint can removal service from homes and offices across the region as part of its Earth Day 2020 efforts.

“As most of us are now quarantined in our homes during the COVID-19 crisis and tackling spring cleaning projects, SUVGOP understands that one of the challenges is disposing of those cans of paint that have collected in the basement or garage,” stated Mike Ginsberg, Co-Founder and Steering Committee member of SUVGOP. “We are delighted to join with a woman owned, green award winning company like Yuck Old Paint (YOP) to offer a ‘contact-less’ method to recycle Northern Virginia’s stockpile of old paint.”

Ginsberg went on to explain that YOP has been designated as an “Essential Business” in both Virginia and Maryland and that the service will schedule a pick-up where paint cans are left outside, on your doorstep or driveway, for YOP’s drivers to pick up without coming in contact with the homeowner.

“Paint collected by YOP is NOT deposited in Northern Virginia landfills. Old paint that is deemed good and reusable is sent to humanitarian construction projects overseas and non-reusable paint is ground down into a solid waste, using organic compounds, where it is no longer a threat to the soil and water tables,” added Ginsberg.

The Republican organization is asking those interested in recycling their paint to contact Yuck Old Paint directly to learn more about the program at their website wwwYuckOldPaint.com or call them at 888-509-9825.

Please note that there is a minor fee involved for pick up and processing. Also, please mention SUVGOP when contacting YOP.

“With many activities surrounding the 50th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22nd) curtailed or cancelled, we consider this an important recycling opportunity to assist both the environment and humanitarian endeavors overseas,” concluded Ginsberg.

Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition is a regional Northern Virginia PAC dedicated to advancing Republican principles to the Suburban voter. To learn more, visit SUVGOP.com.
