Spanberger Hands Loyalist a Cushy Job, His Wife Grabs His Seat: Welcome to the Democrat Machine

Governor-Elect Abigail Spanberger just showed Fairfax County exactly how the Democrat political machine operates. Last week, she rewarded longtime ally David Bulova—a Democrat who has held the House of Delegates District 11 seat since 2005—with a cushy appointment as Secretary of Natural and Historic Resources.

Days later, his wife Gretchen Bulova won the Democrat nomination to replace him in a special election set for January 13, 2026. The seat stays in the family. The power stays with the insiders. And common-sense families in Fairfax City and Fairfax County get no say.

This isn’t public service—it’s a political dynasty. Spanberger, along with Lieutenant Governor-Elect Ghazala Hashmi and Attorney General-Elect Jay Jones, represent a new wave of Democrat leadership that prioritizes rewarding loyal activists over representing all Virginians.

In the HD-11 special election, Republican Adam Wise offers voters a real choice. Wise challenged David Bulova in November and understands this district. Now he has another chance to end the insider game on January 13th.

This pattern is everywhere in Fairfax County. The entire Board of Supervisors (except Republican Pat Herrity) is controlled by Democrats like Chairman Jeffrey McKay and members who answer to their activist base, not regular families. The School Board—run by Democrats like Chair Sandy Anderson, Vice Chair Robyn Lady, Karl Frisch, and Melanie Meren—directs Superintendent Michelle Reid to implement extreme policies that parents never asked for.

The January 13th special election in HD-11 is your opportunity to send a message: Fairfax families deserve representatives who earn their seats—not politicians who inherit them.

Vote for Adam Wise on January 13, 2026. Tell your neighbors. Stop the machine.
