Sophia Moshasha: Lifelong Virginian for State Senate

Sophia Moshasha — a lifelong Virginian — is running for State Senate in District 39, which includes the City of Alexandria as well as sections of Arlington and Fairfax. Moshasha’s father is from Iran; her mother is a native-born U.S. citizen who runs a small business in Old Town. “This diverse background has instilled in her a unique perspective and a commitment to inclusivity and opportunity for all,” Moshasha’s campaign says.

  • Building Sustainable Solutions for Our Growing Community: “While we address congestion, we must also ensure that our transportation infrastructure keeps pace with the increasing demands. It is crucial that we take proactive measures to address this issue and invest in our public transportation systems.”
  • Supporting Economic Growth Through Local Business: “Sophia’s vision is to create an environment that allows small businesses to thrive, adapt, and recover from the challenges they face. She will advocate for streamlined processes, reduced bureaucratic hurdles, and increased access to resources and capital.”

Recently engaged to be married, Moshasha looks forward to raising a family in Alexandria. “I want to make sure that my future children will be able to grow up with quality education, safe neighborhoods, and thriving communities,” the candidate says. “I’m ready to put in the work at the State Senate to make sure that happens.”

  • Early Voting ends 6/15
  • 6/18 – Election Day
