Busybodies in Fairfax County government recently wanted to limit the number and size of flags that homeowners can lawfully fly. This anti-freedom measure was not endorsed by the county planning commission (following a media firestorm and grassroots backlash). However, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors could still revive it.
Board Chairman Jeff McKay (D-Lee) seemed keen on the draft flag regulations in a statement issued to Fox News. “The proposed ordinance aims to allow residents to still fly flags proudly with reasonable guidelines, while protecting everyone’s First Amendment rights,” McKay said.
The Fairfax GOP has organized a rally against new flag regulations, to be held this Monday, March 8 at 5:30 PM outside the Fairfax County Government Center (1200 Government Center Parkway). Rally attendees will gather in the main circle, and are encouraged to bring their flags.
