President Trump Endorses Corey Stewart for Senate, Calls Tim Kaine a ‘Stiff’

Woodbridge, VA – President Donald Trump tweeted his endorsement of Corey Stewart, the newly nominated Republican choice to challenge Tim Kaine for U.S. Senate in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

“Congratulations to Corey Stewart for his great victory for Senator from Virginia. Now he runs against a total stiff, Tim Kaine, who is weak on crime and borders, and wants to raise your taxes through the roof,” Trump tweeted early Wednesday upon returning from his historic summit in Singapore with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

“Don’t underestimate Corey, a major chance of winning!” the tweet said.

The president struck an optimistic note on behalf of Mr. Stewart’s prospects while throwing shade on Hillary’s failed running mate, who’s never topped 53% in a statewide election in Virginia.

Stewart secured the Republican nomination to challenge Kaine by winning the three-way primary handily in heavily Democratic northern Virginia, where he locked in 57% of the vote on his home turf in Prince William County, sewed up Fairfax with 49% of the vote, and took home a win in Loudoun with 51%.
