The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors seats ten members — nine Democrats and one Republican, Pat Herrity of the Springfield District. The School Board seats twelve, and every one is Democrat-aligned. Twenty-two seats. One dissenting vote in the whole county. That is not oversight. That is a rubber stamp with a quorum.
Look at what the rubber stamp has produced.
In 2024 the Board raised the real estate tax rate three cents — about $97 million more out of your pocket. In 2025, assessments jumped an average of 6.65%, so your bill climbed again even where the rate didn’t. Then, on January 1, 2026, they added a brand-new 4% meals tax — roughly $67 million a year, charged every time a family in this county sits down to dinner out.
A $4 billion budget, per-pupil spending up more than $6,000 since 2019, enrollment falling faster than any district in the state, SAT scores down 35 points — and a superintendent just handed a contract worth $469,936 a year, more than the President of the United States earns. Centreville High is still waiting on a renovation the voters funded in 2021.
A roughly $300 million budget shortfall, pay raises voted for elected officials, a taxpayer-funded car for the Board chairman. When one party holds every seat, it stops asking permission — because it never has to.
This changes exactly one way. Someone has to run.
In November 2027, every seat on the Board of Supervisors and every seat on the School Board is on the ballot — the entire county government, all at once. Those races are decided now, in the months when a parent, a neighbor, a small-business owner decides whether to step forward. A seat no Republican contests is a seat conceded before a vote is cast.
You don’t need to be a politician. You need to be someone who has watched a tax bill climb and a school board stop listening. The Fairfax County Republican Committee handles the training, the compliance, and the filing deadlines. Supervisor, School Board, Soil and Water, and more are all open.
