Meet Steve Descano — Democrat, Best Friend to Violent Illegals, and the Reason ICE Is So Busy

Oh, how smug and sanctimonious the terminally-online left was on Wednesday afternoon when a Washington, D.C.-based reporter posted a video of a Hispanic man being arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police Department and federal law enforcement agencies. The only context given by the reporter was that the poor man just wanted to be with his family.

Already incensed over President Trump’s law enforcement takeover of D.C.—and ever-so-prone to taking things at face value and not asking questions—a stream of leftist voices immediately fired up their X accounts to condemn the arrest. Everyone’s favorite Democrat stooge, Jessica Tarlov, showed her commitment to willful ignorance by retweeting the video and dramatically adding, “The cruelty is always the point.”

There’s just one thing: the man being arrested, David Perez-Teofani, a Mexican illegal, wasn’t the hard-working family man the left and Jessica Tarlov so desperately wanted him to be. As RedState’s Bonchie reported, Tricia McLaughlin, the Assistant Director of Homeland Security, quickly set the record straight by revealing Perez-Teofani had been arrested in 2024 for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 15. Not only that, he had illegally entered the U.S. three times and had ignored “a final order of removal.”

Great guy. Jessica Tarlov should offer to house him while he awaits deportation.

Everyone who’s not a Democrat was left wondering why this guy was free to roam the streets of D.C. The answer? Steve Descano, commonwealth’s attorney for Fairfax County, Virginia, George Soros lackey, and friend to violent illegals. Descano has an appalling record of failing to prosecute violent criminals, and there seems to be a trend of him turning a blind eye to crime committed by illegals. For unknown reasons, Descano failed to prosecute David Perez-Teofani for sexually assaulting a minor, and, instead, opted to return him to the community.

Here’s a look at Descano’s prosecution style:

Since taking office in January, 2020 Commonwealth’s Attorney Descano and his team have embarked on a groundbreaking reform agenda. The office has implemented policies that make our community safer while addressing racial and socioeconomic inequities in our criminal justice system, stemming the tide of mass incarceration, and elevating a holistic, values-based approach to prosecution over a reflexively punitive one.

“Holistic.” It’s the buzzword that tells you the office will go soft on illegals in the hopes their lax policies will one day swell the Democrat Party’s voter base. See also: the D.C. attorney general.

The incurious media has ignored the trend of Descano’s cherished criminals, having faced no punishment, going on to commit more heinous crimes, but that’s not how we do things here at RedState.

You might remember Andres Caceres Jaldin, the guy who recently made headlines for being caught on video trying to kidnap a toddler from a Fairfax County mall. While his immigration status is murky, one thing is clear: he was able to get his hands on that little girl because Steve Descano’s office had released him days earlier after he was charged with felony hit-and-run. Even worse, it looks like Descano failed to prosecute any of Jaldin’s previous twelve charges, including malicious wounding.

Here’s Denis Humberto Navarette Romero, an illegal from Honduras, who was arrested late last year for raping a woman on a Fairfax County hiking trail. Had Descano’s office not released Romero just days earlier, after being charged with another sex crime, this poor woman would have been spared such a horrifying ordeal.

Let’s not leave out Wilmer Osmany Ramos Giron, the illegal from Guatemala who, despite being deported twice, was somehow back in Fairfax County to violently attack his wife.

According to the victim’s testimony and court documents, Ramos Giron allegedly took his ex-wife’s keys, keeping her from leaving; placed two hands on her throat, impeding her breathing; and brandished a knife over her legs.

Descano gave this creep a slap on the wrist and sent him on the way. The Jessica Tarlovs of the world think this is justice.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) and Attorney General Jason Miyares (R) have called for investigations into Descano’s office and his practice of going soft on violent illegal criminals, but, for now, the insanity continues.

Steve Descano may hope to dress up his failures with “holistic” justice nonsense words, but the reality is that his policies have made Fairfax County and the greater D.C. area far less safe, and that’s why President Trump had to step in. How much more proof do we need that Democrats exist to destroy things, and the rest of us are left having to clean up their messes?
