LISTEN: Pat Herrity Defends Philip Rosenthal

Supervisor Pat Herrity was on WMAL’s Mornings on Mall radio program today, defending Fairfax County Library Trustee Philip Rosenthal. Herrity appointed Rosenthal to the library board in 2018.

The “woke” Left is calling for Rosenthal to resign following his calls for greater ideological diversity on the library website. Jeff McKay, the far-left chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, wants to force Rosenthal off the board, if legally possible.

“I think it’s a slippery slope when we start trying to take people out of boards, authorities and commissions just because we disagree with what they said — especially when what they said wasn’t racist, hateful, or immoral,” Herrity said.

WMAL co-host Vincent Coglianese observed that Fairfax County’s library website looks as though it was designed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “It doesn’t bear any resemblance to normal conversations in the country — it’s deeply radical,” Coglianese said. “And it’s deeply divisive, actually.”

The Fairfax County Library Board meets virtually tonight at 7 o’clock — watch via Zoom (password 693303). Follow this link to contact library board members with your concerns.
