Jonathan Turley wrote the book on why America’s revolution built the world’s oldest democracy while France’s collapsed into the Terror. On Tuesday, August 18, he is bringing it to McLean — as the special guest of the Fairfax County Republican Committee.

The Author of the Year’s Freedom-250 Book, In a Community Center Down the Road

Turley is a constitutional law professor, a legal analyst you have watched break down every major case for years, and a New York Times bestselling author. His new book is Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution — published this year to mark 250 years since the Declaration of Independence.

It asks the question every American should be sitting with right now: why did our revolution build something that lasted, when Athens, France, and so many others burned themselves down? He will speak at 7:05 PM, and books will be for sale.

The Fairfax GOP has spent this year celebrating America’s 250th on purpose. This is what that looks like — not a webinar, but the scholar who wrote the year’s Freedom-250 book, live in the room with you.

Two Candidates Who Just Won Their Primaries. Now They Want the General.

Turley is the headliner, but he is not the only reason to show up. Two Republicans who won their primaries on August 4 will take the microphone.

• Bert Mizusawa, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate — the man who will face Democrat Senator Mark Warner on the November ballot.
• Dave Beckwith, the Republican nominee for Congress in Virginia’s 10th District — challenging Democrat Rep. Suhas Subramanyam.

Both are fresh off primary wins. Both will be in the room to tell you exactly how they plan to win in the fall. This is the part of politics that never makes the news — the candidate, up close, before the ads start.

Warner Is on the Ballot November 3. This Is Where the Work Starts.

Mark Warner’s Senate seat is up on November 3, 2026, and Chairman Katie Gorka’s call does not soften the case against him. Warner came out against the SAVE Act — the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, which requires proof of citizenship to register to vote. In her call, Gorka lays out the rest of it: his support for the redistricting amendment the Virginia Supreme Court threw out, and his checkbook backing of Attorney General Jay Jones.

On the same ballot: three proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution. The Committee is urging members to understand what they actually do to parental rights before they vote — not after.

Early voting starts September 18. That is not far away. The people who win in November are the people who started organizing in August — in rooms exactly like this one.
