DECEMBER 26, 1942 – JULY 8, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a long-time and very special volunteer, Joan Quill, pictured above in the forefront, next to her twin sister, Jane. These two ladies were not only sisters, but also best friends, and they have been quite a dynamic duo for the Fairfax GOP.

From Providence District Chair, Steve Rogers: “I am heartbroken at the loss of my dear friend, Joan Quill. She and her sister Jane were always willing to help as volunteers and were frequent guests at our monthly breakfasts. We were blessed to have Joan on our team and in our lives.”

Joan was born in New York City; attended elementary school at Mount Saint Ursula in the Bronx; and graduated in 1959 from The Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Park Terrace, in NYC. She earned a BS degree in Mathematics and Psychology from Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York in 1963 and a M.Ed. in Mathematics Education in 1972 from The University of Virginia, Magna Cum Laude.

Joan was a passionate educator, whose career spanned over 40 years in her home state of Virginia. She taught at Fairfax High School, Marymount Junior School, Saint John’s Catholic Elementary School, Marymount University, and Nova Community College.

Services for Joan were held at Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church in Fairfax earlier this week. The burial will be on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.

We are grateful for Joan’s enthusiasm and commitment to the Fairfax GOP for so many years, and we will greatly miss her smiling face! We offer our sincere condolences to her family and especially her beloved sister, Jane.
