Republican Winsome Sears made history Tuesday night, as the first woman of color elected to statewide office in Virginia. The Jamaican-born who served in the U.S. Marines is now Virginia’s lieutenant governor-elect. Her conservative, patriotic victory speech quickly went viral, striking a chord with viewers nationwide.
“I’m telling you that what you are looking at is the American dream,” Sears said.
