ICYMI: Supervisor Herrity Talks County Budget

Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity (R-Springfield) was on WMAL’s Larry O’Connor Show Tuesday evening. The discussion focused on the county’s budget shortfall, with so many businesses and residents now struggling as the result of coronavirus-related closures. “We’ve got to hold the line and not increase taxes,” Mr. Herrity said.

The discussion focused on the county’s budget shortfall, with so many businesses and residents now struggling as the result of coronavirus-related closures. “We’ve got to hold the line and not increase taxes,” Mr. Herrity said.

Later Tuesday evening, County Executive Bryan Hill unveiled a new budget that varies significantly from his earlier, tax-raising version. According to Mr. Hill, the revised budget axes the proposed 4 percent admissions tax as well as the 3-cent real estate tax hike.
