More than 200 members and guests attended Tuesday’s meeting of the Fairfax GOP. Early in the meeting, Fairfax GOP Chairman Tim Hannigan commended and thanked our 2019 candidates and their many dedicated volunteers.
“We’re all very disappointed in the election results of two weeks ago, but this is no time to cry in our beer,” Mr. Hannigan said. “We have another election coming up in 350 days. And, as important as the elections were this year, the re-election of President Trump is absolutely paramount.”
Mr. Hannigan reviewed the data from this month’s countywide and district-level elections. In almost every contest, the following pattern held true: total votes increased from 2015; Republican votes increased; and the Republican share of the overall vote declined.
Through December, the Fairfax GOP will systematically assess what went well and what didn’t go well for Republicans in 2019. In January, our assessment teams will formulate plans to improve.
