A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Tulane Law School, Gerarda Culipher is Fairfax County’s Deputy Clerk of Court. Now she is running for Clerk of Court, with customer service the main focus of her campaign.
“I am running for Clerk to continue my service to Virginia’s largest and busiest trial court, keeping it an exemplar of good government,” Culipher says. “I believe in keeping the administration of justice in Fairfax smart, well-run, and accessible.”
Culipher is more than qualified for a promotion to Clerk of Court — in addition to the District of Columbia and Virginia Bar Associations, she is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association (and its Circuit Court, Real Estate, and Technology Subcommittees); the Virginia Land Title Association; the Virginia Circuit Court Clerk’s Association; and the Property Records Industry Association.
Given the meaningful and often sensitive nature of its work, Culipher feels strongly that “a courthouse is no place for partisanship.” She reminds us that a Clerk of Court must deeply respect our most cherished rights as citizens:
You and I know that our Courthouse is a special place. It is the home of our civil liberties; it must be run thoughtfully, professionally, efficiently, and in a non-partisan and service-oriented way.
