Herndon residents were stunned to learn that on 11/18 a woman was raped on the W&OD Trail. The perpetrator, Denis Humberto Navarette Romero, is undocumented and in the U.S. illegally.
Maggie DeBoard, Herndon Police Chief, said this is the first case of “stranger rape” during her 12 year tenure. Police continue to investigate, fearing more victims due to Romero’s long record of sexual assaults and indecent exposure.
Governor Youngkin has publicly criticized Fairfax County’s Democrat elected officials for releasing a repeat violent offender in the community and putting politics ahead of public safety.
Why was Romero released back into our Fairfax County community?
In 2021, Fairfax County passed the Trust Policy with their overwhelming Democrat majority voting 9 to 1 for passage of the progressive policy. Pat Herrity, the lone Republican on the Board of Supervisors was the only dissenting vote. The all-Democrat Fairfax County School Board followed suit by passing their own Trust Policy in the spring of 2022.
The decision by Fairfax County Democrats to prioritize illegal immigrants ahead of safety has lead to a string of high profile assaults and arrests, with last week’s Herndon attack the latest tragedy to befall a member of our community.
What can you do?
Next year, Fairfax County residents will vote for a new Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General AND all members of the House of Delegates. Every one of Fairfax County’s Delegates is a Democrat and has supported the Trust Policy as well as open borders. Talk to your friends and neighbors about the importance of voting in our state and local elections! Let you current elected officials know how you feel about the Trust Policy.
