Fairfax County Republican Party Hosts U.S. Senate Candidate Forum

Last week, the Fairfax County Republican Party held a packed candidate forum at the McLean Community Center. Four Republican candidates for U.S. Senate – Scott Parkinson, Chuck Smith, Eddie Garcia, and Jonathan Emord – took the stage. The winner of this primary will go up against Democratic incumbent Tim Kaine. With Early Voting already underway and concluding on Primary Election Day, June 18th, the stakes are high.

The forum, moderated by Srilekha Palle, Vice Chair of the 11th Congressional District of VA Republican Committee, covered hot topics like abortion, congressional term limits, the Biden economy, and support for President Trump’s agenda.

Here are some highlights:

On the issue of abortion, Scott Parkinson emphasized the need to protect life with stronger abortion regulations. Chuck Smith echoed these sentiments, advocating for pro-life policies and support for mothers and children. Eddie Garcia stressed the moral dimensions, calling for compassionate solutions. Jonathan Emord pushed for laws to protect the unborn while ensuring comprehensive healthcare for women.

Regarding congressional term limits, all candidates expressed support for limiting the number of terms for Congress members. Parkinson believes term limits will reduce the number of career politicians and will bring fresh perspectives. Smith stressed accountability and responsiveness. Garcia suggested term limits would help fight corruption and bring dynamism. Emord proposed specific limits as part of broader government reform for efficiency and public trust.

When discussing the Biden economy, Parkinson criticized Biden’s policies, citing rising inflation and economic instability. Smith focused on high taxes and regulatory burdens on small businesses. Garcia highlighted the increasing national debt and called for fiscal responsibility. Emord condemned current economic policies for stifling growth and proposed tax cuts and deregulation to stimulate recovery.

All candidates expressed support for continuing many of President Trump’s policies. Parkinson praised Trump’s economic and foreign policies. Smith highlighted Trump’s strong stance on national security and immigration. Garcia supported Trump’s judicial appointments and tax reforms. Emord emphasized maintaining Trump’s deregulatory efforts and commitment to American sovereignty.

The discussions were lively but respectful, giving voters a clear picture of each candidate’s priorities and plans.

We thank everyone who attended and made this event a success. As we head towards the Primary Election Day on June 18th, your participation is crucial. Stay informed, stay engaged, and make sure your voice is heard.
