The Fairfax GOP is happy to announce that Kevin R. Pinkney has been appointed by Fairfax County Circuit Court Chief Judge Penney Azcarate to be one of two Republican-nominated members of the Fairfax County Electoral Board. Pinkney’s  three-year term will extend from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027. He will replace former Ambassador Christopher Henzel on the Electoral Board, who is retiring having served from 2022 through 2024. The other two serving members will be Jeffrey Shapiro, nominated by the Fairfax GOP and appointed to serve from 2023 through 2025, and Katherine Hanley, nominated by the Fairfax Democrat Party and appointed to serve from 2024 through 2026.

By law, whichever party holds the Governorship receives two of the three seats on each of the Virginia localities’ Electoral Boards.

Kevin Pinkney graduated from Harvard Law School in 2002 and went on to serve as law clerk to the Honorable Edith Brown Clement in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. His Bar and Court Admissions include the District of Columbia, Virginia, the US Court of Federal Claims and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is now a partner and government contracts practice group leader at the ArentFox Schiff LLP law firm.  His experience includes public procurement law, cost audits, internal investigations, whistleblower suits, cybersecurity rules and intellectual property protection.  He is a nationally known software license audit expert. His community involvement includes serving as a board member for the Sahid Autism Foundation and as a leader of his church congregation.

Katie Gorka, Fairfax GOP Chair, said “We are so grateful for Chris Henzel’s leadership on the Electoral Board for the last three years. We will miss his dedication to better-administered elections in Fairfax County. We are fortunate that Kevin Pinkney accepted the appointment to fill the position. Kevin can bring his wide-ranging professional expertise to this position to benefit all Fairfax County voters. This is a great start for the 2025 election year.
