Ranked Choice Voting made its way into the General Assembly of Virginia again this year before being defeated in the Democrat controlled Senate. Currently Virginia law allows localities to use ranked choice voting for local elections for City Council/Boards of Supervisors races.
As this method of voting has drawn intense interest in Virginia and around the country, it has led to questions about how, when, and why ranked choice should be considered. Of note, the Republican National Committee rejected Ranked Choice Voting at its meeting last week.
