GianCarlo Canaparo, who is on Heritage’s law and courts team has graciously agreed to step in to replace Zack Smith who has a family emergency.
GianCarlo will speak about the just-ended Supreme Court term and decisions, including how the Affirmative Action decision impacts the ongoing battle over Fairfax’s Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
GianCarlo is a Senior Legal Fellow in The Heritage Foundation’s Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies.GianCarlo’sresearch focuses on the separation of powers, administrative law, and the law of race. A keen researcher of many of the Constitution’s less-well-known provisions, he is one of the nation’s leading experts on the Twenty-Seventh Amendment and the Ascertainment Clause.
In addition to Heritage publications,GianCarlo’sscholarship has appeared in law reviews including the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, the Notre Dame Law Review, the Georgetown Journal of Law and Public Policy, the Texas Review of Law and Politics, and the Administrative Law Review.
His research has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, and his analysis has appeared in Law & Liberty, Fox News, The National Review, Law 360, FedSoc Blog, The Washington Times, and other outlets.
In addition to his research, writing, speeches, and testimony,GianCarloco-hosts The Heritage Foundation’s SCOTUS 101 podcast, which follows and explains each week’s happenings at the Supreme Court and features interviews with prominent judges, advocates, and scholars.
GianCarlojoined Heritage in 2019 after serving for two years as a law clerk to a federal district court judge. Before his clerkship, he spent three years as an associate at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
GianCarloholds a law degree from Georgetown University, where he was a published editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California at Davis.
