A Special Election has been called to replace recently re-elected Democrat David Bulova, who resigned to take a position in the Spanberger administration. His wife, Gretchen Bulova, is the Democrat Party candidate running to replace him.
There will be an abbreviated schedule for the Special Election:
- January 2, 2026: Deadline for voters to request an absentee ballot by mail.
- January 3, 2026: Early voting begins.
- January 7, 2026: Deadline for voters to register/update voter registration to vote a regular ballot.
- January 10, 2026: Early voting ends.
- January 13, 2026: Election Day – precinct polls will be open from 6 AM – 7 PM
