United States Marine Corps veteran of Iraq and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, James Thomas, recently announced that he has secured the Republican nomination in the newly redistricted 10th House of Delegates seat. The 10th District includes the communities of Centreville, Clifton, Fairfax Station, and Kings Park West.
James, growing up in a working-class family, witnessed the struggles that came with a down economy and hard times, the loss of jobs and layoffs, and the financial hardships that followed. After the attacks on 9/11, James put college on hold to join the United States Marine Corps where he served in Iraq, conducting search and recovery operations ensuring every fallen servicemember returned home.
After returning from Iraq, James went on to work in a number of government positions focused on national security policy including working alongside Defense Secretary Jim Mattis—notably, restoring much needed resources to our men and women in uniform, and defeating the ISIS caliphate.
James Thomas is an executive in the private sector and lives in Fairfax Station with his wife, Caroline, and his family.
