Fairfax County is getting a lot of hate right now. You’ve seen the signs: “Don’t Fairfax My Virginia,” “Don’t let Fairfax Rule Virginia.” The Democrats have drawn the most absurd Congressional districts in which all roads lead through Fairfax, in their effort to capture four more Congressional seats. I understand the frustration the rest of the state feels toward Northern Virginia, but I also know that we are a strong and mighty contingent of conservatives here in Fairfax, and we have a chance to show the rest of the state — the country even — that we are not rolling over for the Democrats.
Polling numbers are very tight, which means every single vote will count. DO NOT SIT THIS ONE OUT!
This Saturday, April 18th, is the last day to vote early. Check https://fairfaxgop.org for the 16 voting locations across Fairfax County that are open through Saturday at 5 PM. If you wait until Election Day to vote, you can only vote at your regular precinct, because Early Voting locations will no longer be open.
The deceptive ballot language makes this referendum sound harmless — “restoring fairness” and “just temporary” until the commission kicks back in after 2030. But let’s be real: once politicians get their hands back on the map-drawing pen for partisan reasons, they’ll never let go easily. Virginia has seen both parties gerrymander when they had the chance, but the 2020 bi-partisan commission was supposed to put an end to that cycle for good.
Voting NO is the only way to keep the rules in place that we all agreed to in 2020; keep districts competitive and reflective of how Virginia actually votes; and say NO to mid-decade games. It doesn’t matter what other states are doing. We need to do what’s best for our Commonwealth, and a 10-1 gerrymander that disenfranchises millions of Republican voters is bad for Virginia. VOTE NO!
If you care about fair maps and making sure every Virginia voice counts, VOTE NO by April 21. It’s the best way to protect the reform we fought for and keep the process honest.
Let’s show Virginia that Fairfax is in this fight too, because the stakes have never been higher.
