“Objectivity,” “Fairness” & “Accuracy” Are Out

Luke Rosiak, author of Race to the Bottom: Uncovering the Secret Forces Destroying American Public Education, joined WMAL’s O’Connor & Company last week to discuss a variety of new developments on the K-12 education front. One topic discussed was Fairfax County Public Schools’ new “controversial issues” policy.

“For all of recent history, the controversial issues policy has been, if you’re going to teach issues, teach them with objectivity, fairness, accuracy, and relevance,” Rosiak explained. “Yesterday, the school board took a black marker and crossed out those words — ‘objectivity,’ ‘fairness,’ and ‘accuracy’ — and replaced them with ‘foster a learning environment free of racism, homophobia, and xenophobia.'”
