What a week this has been! From the tragedy of Saturday’s assassination attempt to President Trump’s defiant response to the very emotional speeches at the Republican National Convention here in Milwaukee–it has been a week to remember!
At the convention two nights ago, it was incredible to hear from Peter Navarro, who had just that morning been released from federal prison. His crime? He refused to violate executive privilege and appear before Nancy Pelosi’s January 6th Committee. But in spite of having just spent four months in prison, his spirits were high: “They did not break me,” he said to the convention audience, “and they did not break President Trump.”
As a Virginian, I was particularly proud to see President Trump take a seat next to Governor Youngkin when he came out onto the convention floor. I believe that is testimony to the Trump campaign’s commitment to winning in Virginia. The fact that President Trump sat with Gov. Youngkin on one side and Sen. Marco Rubio on the other, and the fact that the night before, two of Trump’s most serious political rivals–former Governor Nikki Halley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis–took the stage at the convention says to me that Trump is bringing the party together and making it an indomitable force.
The last night of the Convention was a night of intense emotion. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house when the Gold Star families of the 13 U.S. Marines killed talked about the sons and daughters they have lost because of President Biden’s botched Afghan withdrawal. They expressed their dismay that Biden has not once publicly said the names of the 13, and worse still, that he lied in saying no service members have died during his administration. So they recited each name of the 13 service members, and the crowd echoed the names back. It was a deeply moving act of love and compassion from a sea of patriotic Americans.
The culmination of the week, of course, was to hear from President Trump himself last night. He began by telling his personal story of the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania: “Just a few short days ago, my journey with you nearly ended…”
“I was not meant to be here tonight,” he concluded, but the crowd challenged him: “Yes you are! Yes you are!” they called back.
For me, the one line that resonated most was a simple one, one that was otherwise lost in the bigger dramas of the evening. President Trump said, simply, “Your expectations are not big enough.” Isn’t that just so true, especially in Fairfax County? We have become used to losing. We have resigned ourselves to living with the failed policies of the Democrats–with their out-of-control spending, their ever increasing taxes, their radical agendas, their destruction of our education system, the rising crime they have engendered. But we can raise our expectations. We must!
Raising our expectations means believing with our deepest conviction that we will win in November, and it also means giving everything we’ve got to ensure that victory!
Here in Fairfax County, we are ready! We have an extraordinary grass-roots army. We have a robust strategy for mobilizing voters, for banking absentee ballots, and for ensuring that only legal votes count. But we cannot do the work without your financial support, which pays for the tools and technology that we need to win.
Last night president Trump said we are on the verge of a new golden age. I fully believe that! But I also know it will not come about without our help!
Fairfax County is a crucial battleground, and we need every one of you to join us in this fight. In fact, the latest VCU poll shows that President Trump is leading by 3 points in Virginia! We are at the very heart of our party’s battle for future of this country.
Donate to the Cause: While the infantry may win the battle, logistics wins wars. Your financial support is absolutely critical to our efforts. Whether it’s $50, $100, $500, or more, every dollar helps us fight for a brighter future.
Can you chip in to help? We are risk RIGHT NOW of not having the critical materials on the ground that will be needed for this campaign season.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to the conservative cause and for helping us elect Republicans this November.
In liberty,
Katie Gorka, Chair
