Asian American & Pacific American Heritage Month: Honoring Culture

Share This Article:

May marks the celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to honor the rich cultural diversity, history, and contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

Here in Fairfax County, we take pride in the vibrant tapestry of cultures that make up our local community, and the AAPI population plays an integral role in that diversity. This month, we not only celebrate the accomplishments and heritage of this community, but also encourage people of all backgrounds to join in the festivities.

The Legacy of AAPI Communities

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have long been part of the American story. Their contributions have been instrumental across numerous fields, including science, technology, business, and the arts. From the construction of the transcontinental railroad, which relied on numerous Chinese immigrant laborers, to the cultural influences and achievements of the Filipino, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese, the AAPI community has enriched our nation in countless ways.
