Palle for Supervisor
Chantilly, VA – Republican Srilekha Palle dominated Wednesday night’s debate versus Democrat Supervisor Kathy Smith, blasting the incumbent’s record on issues ranging from tax hikes to overcrowded schools.
“My opponent is far too quick to raise taxes, rather than find ways to stretch our hard-earned tax dollars,” Palle lamented. “Worst of all, my opponent has vowed – in writing – to codify radical, extreme sanctuary policies that would make Fairfax County a safe haven for criminal aliens.”
Smith weakly defended her votes in favor of higher taxes. “We don’t need higher taxes,” Palle countered. “We need higher standards.”
On the highly controversial sanctuary issue, Smith accused Palle of seeking to “criminalize certain parts of our community.”
Sanctuary counties let criminals out of jail, instead of handing them over to ICE for removal hearings.
“In reality, it is immigrants who are overwhelmingly the victims of this criminal element,” Palle said last night. “Mind you, I’m a legal immigrant myself and this hits close to home.”
