While a possible casino in Tysons has dominated local news the past few weeks, Governor Glenn Youngkin’s proposal for a new stadium complex in Alexandria remains a hot issue both here and in the General Assembly.

Local Fairfax County Democrats may be at odds with their party leadership.  Senator Scott Surovell (D-Fairfax) sponsored the Senate version of the bill, but Senator Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth), who chairs the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee, blocked a committee vote on the proposal, declaring it ‘not ready for prime time’.
