From the organizers:
The Virginia Department of Education, Secretary of Education Atif Qarni, Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. James Lane, and Deputy Superintendent Donald Fairheart have spent countless dollars and time on moving to eliminate advanced mathematics, creating divisive programs grounded in the controversial ideology of critical race theory (CRT), and keeping schools closed for far too long, while educational standards and literacy rates have been in a free-fall.
The Fairfax County Public Schools Board voted unanimously to eliminate the merit-based, race-neutral standardized admissions test to the nation’s #1 school, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, in a targeted attack on the school’s mostly Asian, mostly immigrant families. Loudoun County Public Schools board members have targeted parents opposed to critical race theory, while school officials in Prince William County, Arlington and Alexandria have pressed ideological indoctrination in the name of “equity.”
We are concerned about the downward spiral of K-12 public education in Virginia, from the statehouse to the schoolhouse. The Virginia Department of Education, the Virginia Secretary of Education, the Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Deputy Superintendent, and local Virginia school boards are not doing their best for students. We will have a conversation with Mr. Youngkin on how to restore our values in education to schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
