A catastrophic sewage spill has been poisoning the Potomac River for a month—with water contamination levels 10,000 times above EPA standards. Fairfax County taxpayers help fund the utility responsible. So why are Jeff McKay, James Walkinshaw, and every other Fairfax Democrat silent?
For the past month, a broken sewer pipe has been dumping raw, untreated sewage directly into the Potomac River—the same river that borders Fairfax County and supplies drinking water to the region.
We’re not talking about a small leak. 243 million gallons of sewage. Water samples near the spill site tested more than 10,000 times above EPA safety standards.
Here’s what makes this worse: DC Water, the utility responsible for the Potomac Interceptor pipe, already knew it was failing. They rated it 3.5 out of 5 in severity. They had $625 million allocated for repairs. They scheduled the fix for this summer. The pipe collapsed before they bothered to act.
And who pays for DC Water? You do. Fairfax and Loudoun County residents are regional ratepayers funding this utility.
So where are our elected officials?
Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeff McKay? Silent.
Congressman James Walkinshaw (VA-11)? Nothing.
Congressman Don Beyer (VA-8)? Not a word.
Congressman Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10)? Nowhere to be found.
State Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell? Too busy building his casino
Governor-Elect Abigail Spanberger? Radio silence.
President Trump has already directed federal authorities to respond and called out the “Radical Left caused Environmental Hazard.” Meanwhile, Fairfax County’s entire Democrat political establishment—the people who claim to care about the environment—can’t be bothered to demand answers on behalf of the families they represent.
This is what one-party rule looks like. Democrat politicians answer to activists and bureaucrats—not to you.
Remember their silence in 2026 and 2027 when these names appear on your ballot.
