GMU Under Federal Investigation
The U.S. Department of Education’s (DOE) Office for Civil Rights is investigating George Mason University (GMU) for “discrimination involving shared ancestry” following accusations of antisemitism against the school.
In October, GMU investigated an incident in which a student could be seen tearing down posters depicting Israeli children taken hostage by Hamas terrorists on campus. The incident was shared by Jewish advocacy organization Stop Antisemitism, which called the actions “Evil. Antisemitic. Cold hearted.”
Federal Civil Rights Office Rules Against Fairfax County Schools
Tears of joy came to the eyes of special education advocates Callie Oettinger and Debra Tisler as they read a much-anticipated decision by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.

Today, the U.S. Department of Education ruled that they were indeed correct.
ZOA Files Civil Rights Complaint Over FCPS Antisemitism
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has filed a civil rights complaint against Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in Virginia, alleging longstanding antisemitism problems there that FCPS officials have failed to address, in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. The complaint, against one of the largest school districts in the U.S., was filed with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights on January 25, 2022.
The ZOA’s complaint documents year of antisemitism in the schools, which FCPS officials knew about but did not respond to effectively.
