County Dems Impose New Tax on Shoppers
Democrats on the Fairfax County Board Supervisors voted last night to impose a new tax on shoppers. Effective January 1, 2022, county residents will incur a 5-cent tax on plastic bags in grocery stores, convenience stores, and drug stores.
Supervisor Pat Herrity (R-Springfield) was the board’s lone dissenting vote.

Fairfax GOP Blasts “Israel Hater” on County School Board
The Fairfax GOP is blasting the “hateful screeds” of Abrar Omeish — and calling for the school board member’s resignation. “Instead of focusing on core educational issues, Abrar Omeish is busy fomenting hatred and division,” Fairfax GOP Chairman Steve Knotts said today. “Fairfax County deserves better. Omeish should resign or be removed from the school board.”
The chairman’s comments follow Omeish’s assertions that Israel practices “apartheid” and “colonization”
Dems’ Anti-Flag Measure Defeated — For Now
Patriots in Fairfax County made a difference last night — the planning commission relented and voted to NOT recommend onerous rules limiting the number and size of flags that homeowners can lawfully fly.
Last night’s vote came on the heels of a media firestorm and mounting public outrage against the anti-flag measure.
